Christians, more clearly than others can see the tidal wave of pain that is on the way. Sin carries in it its own misery.

Thomas Watson described true repentance as: “a grace of God’s Spirit whereby a sinner is inwardly humbled and visibly reformed.” It is made up of six ingredients:

1. Sight of sin

2. Sorrow for sin

3. Confession of sin
Neh. 9:2; Hos. 5:15; 2 Sam. 24:17

4. Shame of sin
Eze. 43:10; Ezra 9:6; Luke 15:21

5. Hatred of sin
Eze. 36:31; Zech. 3:4-5; Rom. 7:15

6. Turning from sin
Joel 2:12; Eze. 14:6; Isa. 55:7; Job 11:14
